Emotional Conflict: The Body Never Lies
Do you ever feel an unexplained tension that seems to have no specific cause? In the world of psychology and emotional work, we often talk about emotional conflict, which can be compared to a silent civil war. It is a state where one part of you wants to move forward, while another pulls the emergency brake with all its might.
This state is not just an abstract concept. In Recall Healing, we know that every such "internal struggle" may have a real impact on our body, affecting our well-being and physical condition.
What is an Emotional Conflict, really?
Conflict arises when there is a discrepancy between what we feel and think, and what we actually do. It is a lack of alignment in our most basic actions.
Our Ego is responsible for this state, acting as a strict internal policeman. It is important to realize that our Ego is formed primarily before the age of seven, uncritically adopting social commands, habits, and beliefs from those around us.
"Conflict is the moment when the heart says 'yes', but the fear of judgment screams 'no'."
The Trap of "Shoulds" and "Musts"
The main fuel for internal tension is all kinds of obligations. To survive in society and adapt to the group, we often submit to norms that conflict with our authentic desires.
Our Ego then builds a thick wall between what is truly important to us and what we "should" or "must" do. Although we sometimes act against ourselves consciously (e.g., agreeing with a boss to keep a job), the most difficult and biologically taxing conflicts are those we refuse to notice. Those pushed into the subconscious.
When internal tension becomes too great and finds no outlet in conscious experience or conversation, biology may take over the burden. Emotional tension then finds its reflection in the body. This may manifest as:
- Physical signals and ailments – the body takes on the conflict to relieve our psyche.
- Misfortunate events or accidents – when we subconsciously want to stop, an "accidental" event gives us the right to do so.
- Recurring physical signals for which the causes may be elusive to traditional diagnostic methods.
Example: The Symbolism of Neck Pain
Neck pain often symbolizes an imbalance between what we think (head) and what we do (the rest of the body). It is the difficulty of "turning" towards a truth that is uncomfortable. The subconscious tries to hide this pain under a layer of physical ailment, fearing that the emotional truth would be unbearable.
How to Find the Path to Freedom?
Resolving a conflict is not possible without finding the "crack in the wall." We must dare to touch the real pain and stop lying to ourselves.
Only through in-depth conversation, emotional work, or therapy can we become aware of our internal tensions and understand what our body is trying to tell us. Without finding this gap and facing what truly hurts us, difficult situations and ailments will keep coming back as "lessons to be learned."
Your 2-minute Conflict Exercise
Sit comfortably and think about a situation where you feel forced to do something.
1. Ask yourself: "Who in me says that I must do this?" (Is it my voice, or perhaps the voice of a parent or a boss?).
2. Feel where in your body the tension appears when you say the word "must."
3. Try replacing "must" with "I want" or "I choose." If you feel resistance – that is where your conflict is hidden.
4. Now take a deep breath and, as you exhale, release all the resistance from your body, wherever you feel it, in the form of dark smoke.
